Website performance issues? Whether your multifamily website is hosted on RentCafé, RentCaffeine, or another platform, there are some pivotal steps you can take to significantly elevate your website speed, organic SEO, and performance! Check out these 5 tips for increasing website performance.
1. Use of third-party chatbots:
Third-party chat bots, especially those that are heavily animated, can significantly slow down the load time of your website (especially on mobile).
How to fix: If your website is being hosted by Yardi on RentCafé or RentCaffeine, switch to the Yardi chatbot. Utilizing their in-house chatbot could speed up your page load time by 1 second or more!
2. Duplicate title tags:
Duplicate title tags make it difficult for search engines to determine which of a website's pages is relevant for a specific search query, and which one should be prioritized in search results.
How to fix: In RentCafé, navigate to SEO > SEO tags > Edit > type and save new title tag (optimize further by using 50-60 characters only). Be sure to use different title tags for each individual webpage on your site! Utilize rich keywords that best describe the content on each page.
3. Duplicate meta descriptions:
Duplicate meta descriptions on different pages mean a lost opportunity to use more relevant keywords. They also make it difficult for search engines and users to differentiate between different webpages.
How to fix: In RentCafé, navigate to SEO > SEO tags > Edit > type and save new meta description (optimize further by using 160-165 characters). Be sure to use different meta descriptions for each individual webpage on your site! Again, utilize rich keywords that best describe the content on each page.
4. Duplicate page content:
Webpages are considered duplicates if their content is 85% identical. Having duplicate content may significantly affect your SEO performance.
How to fix: Write page content that varies on each page yet utilizes rich keywords based upon your community/company keyword research (i.e. property/company name, location, types of unites offered, amenities offered etc.).
5. Broken internal links:
Broken internal links lead users from one website to another and bring them to non-existent webpages. Multiple broken links negatively affect the user experience and may worsen your search engine rankings.
How to fix: Regularly check website buttons and links to ensure they lead to a legitimate site. Fix any errors found ASAP.
